Car Drives into Kindergarten Group - Toddler Seriously Injured - Elderly driver hits daycare group in Niesky, leaving toddler critically injured

An 84-year-old driver struck a group of children crossing the road in Niesky, Germany. The collision left a one-year-old girl seriously injured and a daycare worker with minor wounds. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, which also involved property damage estimated at around €1,000.

The accident occurred when the elderly driver failed to spot a daycare group in time. His vehicle hit a stroller carrying a one-year-old girl, causing severe injuries. She was airlifted to hospital, while a daycare worker suffered minor injuries and was taken to a medical facility. A boy of the same age as the injured girl escaped unharmed.

A crisis intervention team was quickly deployed to the scene. Meanwhile, police in Saxony have linked the Niesky incident to a broader investigation. The Landeskriminalamt is examining four cases on behalf of the Görlitz public prosecutor's office, including two wolves killed by illegal shooting and two by poisoned bait. Witnesses have been urged to call 0800-8552055. Initial steps included securing evidence and forwarding findings to prosecutors. Intentional wolf killings carry penalties of fines or up to five years in prison.

The injured girl remains in hospital after the collision, while the driver faces potential legal consequences. Police continue to gather evidence as part of their ongoing investigation. The daycare worker's minor injuries were treated, and the total property damage has been valued at approximately €1,000.
