Elderly driver hits police officer at Berlin’s malfunctioning intersection

An 85-year-old driver struck a police officer’s foot while she was directing traffic in Berlin. The incident happened at a busy intersection where traffic lights had stopped working. The officer later received hospital treatment for her injuries.

The collision took place around 5:55 p.m. at the junction of Fürstenwalder Damm, Bölschestraße and Dahlwitzer Landstraße. The elderly man was driving along Fürstenwalder Damm when he approached the intersection from Ahornallee. Officers were managing traffic manually because the signals were faulty.

The officer’s injuries required medical attention but did not lead to an overnight stay. Authorities have not released the driver’s name. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
