Charity ends in scuffle between senior and beggar - Elderly man robbed of €100 after helping a beggar in Reutlingen
An 87-year-old man was robbed of €100 after trying to help a beggar woman in Reutlingen. The incident began near Marienkirche and Wilhelmstraße on Saturday around noon. Police are now searching for the woman, who remains at large.
The trouble started when the elderly man gave the beggar woman €5. She complained it was not enough, so he invited her to his nearby office to offer more. Once inside, she grabbed €100 from his wallet and tried to leave.
A struggle broke out as the man attempted to stop her. Despite his efforts, she escaped with the cash. The suspect is described as a woman aged 30-40, around 150 cm tall, with a corpulent build. She wore a colourful headscarf and clothing, and carried an Edeka plastic bag.
Police launched a manhunt but have yet to locate her.
The elderly victim reported the theft immediately. Authorities continue to search for the woman, who fled with €100. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
