Elderly woman critically injured after driver reverses into her in Berlin
A 72-year-old woman suffered serious leg injuries after a traffic accident in Berlin’s Altglienicke neighbourhood. The incident happened around 5 p.m. on Porzer Straße when a driver failed to spot her while reversing into a parking bay. Police are now investigating the case as a potential traffic offence.
The 44-year-old driver was manoeuvring into a designated parking space when he felt resistance. Assuming it was a discarded golf battery, he continued reversing. Only after moving forward did he hear screams and realise a woman was lying injured on the ground.
The woman remains in hospital following the collision. Investigators will determine whether charges should be brought against the driver. The accident highlights the risks of reversing without full visibility.
