Elderly woman injured after ambulance collision in Berlin’s Staaken district

A serious collision occurred in Berlin’s Staaken district on January 13, 2026. An ambulance crashed into a Volkswagen driven by an 86-year-old woman at a busy intersection. The elderly driver suffered injuries and required urgent medical attention from the scene.

The accident happened at around 3:30 p.m. at the junction of Heerstraße, Magistratsweg, and Semmelländerweg. Emergency services were already on scene, as the crash involved their own vehicle. The ambulance crew escaped unharmed, but the elderly woman sustained torso and leg injuries.

She was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. Authorities have since referred the case to the specialised traffic crimes unit of Directorate 2 (West). As of now, no specific individual has been publicly named in connection with the investigation.

The incident remains under examination by traffic crime specialists. The injured driver continues to receive medical treatment following the collision. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
