Elderly woman injured after delivery van reverses into her in Berlin
An 86-year-old woman was injured in a traffic accident in Berlin’s Köpenick district on Wednesday. The incident involved a delivery van reversing onto Zur Nachtheide street just after 2:15 p.m. Police have now handed the case to a specialist traffic crimes unit for further examination.
The collision took place when a 31-year-old courier was manoeuvring his Sprinter van in reverse. As he backed onto the street, the rear of the vehicle struck the elderly pedestrian. The impact caused head and arm injuries, prompting emergency services to rush her to hospital for observation.
The woman remains under medical supervision following the accident. Authorities continue to examine the details of the collision. The outcome of the investigation will determine whether further action is taken.
