Elderly Woman Falls Victim to Online Fraudster - Elderly woman loses €1,500 in Microsoft 365 tech support scam

An 80-year-old woman from Losheim am See, Saarland, has fallen victim to an online scam. The woman was defrauded of around €1,500 after a fraudster, impersonating a Microsoft 365 employee, gained remote access to her laptop.

The scammer contacted the woman, claiming to be from Microsoft 365, and offered to remove viruses from her computer. Believing the caller, the woman granted remote access to her laptop. The fraudster then transferred €1,500 from her online banking to multiple unknown accounts. This incident serves as a reminder to be cautious of unsolicited calls offering technical support.

The woman from Losheim am See has been scammed out of €1,500. Police are investigating the incident. Microsoft 365 has been informed and warns customers about such scams. Anyone receiving similar calls should hang up and report the incident to local authorities.
