Elderly woman robbed of Cartier jewelry in Berlin's Kreuzberg district
An 81-year-old woman was violently robbed in Berlin's Kreuzberg district on Monday. The attacker snatched two necklaces, a piece of Cartier jewelry, from her neck in the entrance hall of a building on Mariannenstraße. Police later arrested a suspect after a brief chase. The assault began when the man grabbed the victim's jewelry, causing her neck pain. Witnesses immediately gave chase as the suspect fled down the street. During the pursuit, he repeatedly brandished a knife. The man then ran into a bar on Oranienstraße, where officers caught up with him. Police detained the suspect and handed him over to the criminal police of Directorate 5 (City) for further questioning. Both stolen Cartier necklaces were recovered and returned to the elderly victim. The arrested man remains in custody as investigations continue. The victim received her Cartier jewelry back and is recovering from the incident. Authorities have not released further details about the suspect or possible charges.
