Elisabeth Pelzl's quiet farewell after 22 years of parish leadership
A quiet but deeply felt farewell marked the end of Elisabeth Pelzl's 22 years as chair of Ronsberg's parish council. The surprise ceremony, held during an evening Mass, celebrated her decades of leadership and dedication. Family, colleagues, and the diocese gathered to honour her lasting impact on the community.
Elisabeth Pelzl first took on the role in 2002, persuaded by Monsignor Erwin Reichart. At the time, the council had just 12 active members. Over the years, her organisational skills and tireless work transformed it into a cohesive, high-functioning team.
She made it her mission to bring the beauty of faith closer to people, introducing new initiatives and fostering unity. Her calm and steady leadership earned praise from Petra Klingler, her successor, who called Pelzl the linchpin between the council, pastoral team, congregation, and local groups.
During the farewell Mass, Father Michael Sulzenbacher spoke emotionally about her journey. The diocese also recognised her service with a certificate and a golden honour pin. The ceremony included a personal touch: her son Markus played the organ, accompanied by Tanja Dusel on trumpet.
Reflecting on her time, Pelzl described the role as a defining chapter of her life, alongside her family and career.
The parish now moves forward under new leadership, but Pelzl's influence remains. Her innovations and dedication have left a lasting mark on Ronsberg's faith community. The golden pin and certificate stand as formal recognition of her two decades of service.
