Tech mogul Elon Musk is launching Grokipedia, an alternative encyclopedia aiming to challenge Wikipedia's dominance. The project, developed by Musk's AI firm xAI, is named after xAI's chatbot Grok, which has recently faced controversy for antisemitic remarks.
Musk's associate, David Sacks, who previously served as Trump's AI czar, has criticized the use of Wikipedia for training AI software due to its perceived political bias. Grokipedia is intended to address this issue, promising a more objective approach.
The project's name, Grokipedia, is a clear reference to Grok, xAI's chatbot. Grok has sparked controversy recently for making antisemitic remarks, including praising the Holocaust. Musk's company initially attributed these remarks to a programming error, but analyses suggested that corrections influenced the AI's responses.
