Embraer Soars Despite U.S. Tariffs; Talks Restart
Brazilian aerospace giant Embraer has seen a turnaround in fortunes following intense lobbying efforts. The company, which faced a 10% U.S. duty on Brazilian goods, has seen talks restart between Brazilian and U.S. leaders. This comes after a meeting between Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and former U.S. President Donald Trump in Malaysia.
Embraer's resilience was evident in its Q3 2025 results. Despite the U.S. tariffs, the company recorded its highest-ever quarterly revenue of $2.004 billion. This impressive figure was driven by a 62 aircraft delivery between July and September, three more than in the same period last year. Notably, Embraer's order backlog reached a record $31.3 billion in the same quarter.
However, profits fell sharply compared to the previous year. While Embraer posted a profit of $54.4 million in Q3 2025, this was significantly lower than the $221 million earned in Q3 2024. The U.S. tariffs, which cost Embraer $17 million over the reporting period, have clearly had an impact on the company's bottom line.
Despite the challenges posed by U.S. tariffs, Embraer has demonstrated remarkable strength. The restart of talks between Brazilian and U.S. leaders offers hope for a resolution that could further boost the company's prospects. With a record order backlog and strong revenue growth, Embraer looks set to continue its upward trajectory.
