Lower Saxony Day 2028 takes place in Emden - Emden to Host 40th Lower Saxony Day in Summer 2028
Emden has been selected to host the 40th Lower Saxony Day in the summer of 2028. The decision followed a successful cabinet meeting where the state government approved the city’s bid. This will be the second time Emden hosts the main event, having last done so in 1993.
Lower Saxony Day began in 1981 as a celebration of the state’s cultural and community groups. The event highlights volunteer work and the region’s diversity. In 2023, the 39th edition took place in Osnabrück, attracting around 500,000 visitors.
The 2028 festival will bring Lower Saxony’s communities together in Emden. Free to attend, it will offer entertainment, education, and a chance to explore the city’s unique identity. Planning is now underway to ensure a memorable event for residents and visitors alike.
