Endingen plans two Sunday shopping days in 2026 for local festivals
Endingen is set to allow Sunday shopping on two special occasions in 2026. The town council will first discuss the new rules at a meeting on March 4. If approved, shops will open during two key local events later in the year.
The first Sunday opening will take place on March 22, coinciding with Blühendes Endingen und Antikmarkt. This event marks the first of two planned exceptions for the year.
A second Sunday opening is scheduled for October 11, during Endingen zeigt Flagge. Both dates will permit shops to operate outside usual restrictions.
However, no Sunday trading will occur during the Endingen Book Market on May 16 and 17. The town's approach aligns with broader regulations in Baden-Württemberg, where municipalities can allow up to three Sunday openings annually for special events. Nearby towns like Weinheim and Kirchheim unter Teck have already adopted similar measures.
The proposed bylaw must still be approved by the town council. If passed, it will let businesses open on two Sundays in 2026, while keeping the Book Market weekend closed. The decision reflects Endingen's balance between supporting local trade and maintaining existing restrictions.
