Woodward Inc. to Build Precision Manufacturing Facility in Greer, South Carolina
Woodward Inc., a global leader in energy control solutions for aerospace and industrial markets, has announced plans to build a precision manufacturing facility in Greer, South Carolina, in Spartanburg County. The new facility, expected to become operational in 2027, is a strategic investment for the company, valued at nearly $200 million.
This investment is part of Brookhouse Aerospace's wider growth and investment strategy. The 300,000ft facility will focus on production of servo-hydraulic actuation systems, with most of the factory's initial capacity dedicated to producing spoiler actuation for the Airbus A350.
The investment is supported by a competitive incentive package from the State of South Carolina, Spartanburg County, and local economic development organizations. The new facility is expected to create approximately 275 high-quality jobs in manufacturing, engineering, and business operations.
Brookhouse Aerospace has also invested over £500,000 in additional machinery to extend its engineering capabilities. Furthermore, the company plans to invest further in machining capabilities over the coming months.
In a related development, NCC has extended the use of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to other innovation centres within the UK High Value Manufacturing Catapult network. Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform has been adopted by NCC, providing advanced digital solutions to streamline product development and manufacturing processes.
Meanwhile, Lockheed Martin will upgrade the Republic of Korea Air Force's F-16 Block 52 flight simulators to reflect the advanced capabilities of its modernised F-16 Viper (F-16V) aircraft. This upgrade will enhance the training capabilities of the Korean Air Force, ensuring they can effectively operate their advanced aircraft.
With the construction of this new facility, Woodward Inc. is set to contribute significantly to the aerospace industry in South Carolina, while also creating numerous job opportunities. The facility has potential to expand capacity as the company meets growing demand for its aerospace technologies.
