Ernst Sittinger nominated to ORF Board of Trustees after media career milestone

Ernst Sittinger, a long-serving media professional, has been nominated to join the ORF Board of Trustees. The 58-year-old will represent the state of Styria in the role. His appointment follows the resignation of Thomas Prantner from the same position. Born in 1966, Sittinger recently left his post at Kleine Zeitung after nearly two decades. His career includes recognition with the Kurt Vorhofer Prize, highlighting his influence in Austrian media.

Governor Mario Kunasek described him as a 'shrewd media professional', while Deputy Governor Manuela Khom praised his deep understanding of the industry. Sittinger has committed to fulfilling his duties with care, professionalism, and neutrality.

His formal approval is expected at the next Styrian cabinet meeting. Once confirmed, he will attend the ORF Board of Trustees session in Vienna on June 11. Sittinger’s nomination fills a vacancy left by Prantner’s departure. The decision reflects Styria’s confidence in his media expertise. His first official meeting with the board is scheduled for mid-June.
