Essen's Zollverein Hosts Global Communication Design Exhibition Through June 2026
An exhibition celebrating the best in global communication design opened at Essen's Zollverein on February 26, 2026. The event, attended by Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen, highlights 838 award-winning works from 39 countries. Among them, 66 projects from North Rhine-Westphalia take centre stage—more than any other German state.
The exhibition, titled World's Best Communication Design 2025 and Highlights from NRW, runs until June 1, 2026, at the Red Dot Design Museum. It features the year's top designs, including the Red Dot Grand Prix 2025 winner: a digital business and sustainability report by Essen-based heureka GmbH.
The showcase places special emphasis on North Rhine-Westphalia's creative strength. With 66 awarded projects, the state leads Germany's rankings. No other NRW company besides heureka GmbH is named in the official listings, reinforcing the firm's standout achievement.
Lord Mayor Kufen joined the opening at the UNESCO-listed Zollverein site, marking the start of a four-month display of innovative design from around the world.
The exhibition remains open to the public until June 1, 2026. Visitors can explore 838 international designs, with a dedicated focus on North Rhine-Westphalia's 66 award-winning entries. heureka GmbH's Grand Prix-winning project is among the highlights on show.
