€36,000 in Grants to Boost Firefighter Training and Facilities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Two grants totalling around €36,000 will be handed to the State Firefighters' Association in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Interior Minister Christian Pegel will present the funding on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. The money will support fire sports and office upgrades across the region.

The larger grant, worth approximately €30,500, is earmarked for the fire sports department. It will fund special equipment needed to organize state sports competitions for volunteer and youth fire brigades. Christian Borchardt, head of the youth fire brigade, will oversee the allocation of these resources.

A second grant of €5,500 will modernize the office facilities. The outdated kitchen unit in the common room will be replaced with a new built-in kitchen. This upgrade aims to improve self-catering and hospitality for staff and visitors.

The official presentation will take place on Thursday, where Borchardt will receive the sports equipment funding. State Commander Maik Szymoniak will accept the grants on behalf of the association.

The funding will directly enhance training and operational capabilities for volunteer and youth fire brigades. New equipment and improved facilities are set to benefit both daily operations and competitive events. The grants reflect ongoing investment in the region’s emergency services infrastructure.
