Ex-casino employee accused of stealing $727K for luxury splurges

A former employee at Hollywood Casino in Pennsylvania has been charged with stealing over $727,000 from the venue's racebook. Jennifer Petrillo, 53, allegedly used the funds for luxury purchases, including spa treatments, cosmetic surgeries, and a Tesla Model 3.

The theft began in June 2024 and went undetected until March 2025, when casino management noticed financial discrepancies. Petrillo, one of only three employees with access to the racebook's holding account, is accused of diverting the money into personal accounts under her control.

Prosecutors claim she worked with a family member to set up fake accounts, identities, and businesses. These were used to move the stolen funds without raising suspicion. Now facing eight felony charges, Petrillo has been accused of first-degree offences, including unlawful taking and handling proceeds of illegal activity. If convicted on all counts, she could spend decades in prison.

The case highlights how internal access to financial systems was exploited over nearly a year. Authorities continue to investigate the extent of the fraud and whether others were involved. Petrillo's next court appearance has yet to be scheduled.
