Ex-detective sentenced for stealing $1M from police union funds
Joseph Osinski, a former McKeesport police detective, has been sentenced for stealing nearly $1 million from the Allegheny County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). The theft took place over several years while he managed the lodge’s finances. A court has now ordered him to serve jail time and repay the stolen funds in full.
Osinski worked as the financial secretary for the FOP Lodge from 2020 until April 2024. During this time, he opened bank accounts under the lodge’s name and deposited checks meant for the organization into them. He also diverted money intended for a memorial fund honouring a fallen officer.
The case has resulted in a prison term, probation, and a substantial financial penalty for Osinski. The FOP Lodge will now recover the stolen funds through court-mandated restitution. The investigation began after internal concerns were raised about missing money.
