Ex-Google manager quits Rs. 2 crore job to chase content creation dreams

Srigeeta Shrinivas, a former principal account manager at Google, has left her high-paying corporate job to become a full-time content creator. After nearly a decade with the tech giant, she stepped down in December 2025 to focus on travel and lifestyle storytelling. Her decision follows years of balancing her corporate role with a growing online platform.

Shrinivas did not make the choice impulsively. For almost five years, she had been developing her content creation brand while working at Google. During her time in Dublin, she managed one of the company's largest European fashion accounts. Yet, her passion for storytelling grew stronger after two road trips along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way.

The shift was not just about passion—it came with financial risks. She walked away from an annual salary of around Rs. 2 crore. Now, she earns through paid partnerships with travel brands and plans to expand these collaborations as her audience grows.

To share her journey, Shrinivas has launched a series called Rebuilding Life After Quitting Google. Through this project, she hopes to challenge traditional career expectations in India. Her goal is to show that success doesn't always follow a predictable path.

Shrinivas' move highlights a growing trend of professionals leaving stable tech careers for creative pursuits. While exact numbers of Indians making similar shifts remain unclear, her story adds to the conversation. She now focuses on building a sustainable income from content while encouraging others to explore unconventional career choices.
