Ex-Officer Admits to $831K Scam, Faces Sentencing
Former Eastville Police Officer Jerry Keith Brady, Jr. has admitted to defrauding 13 people out of a total of over $831,000. Brady pleaded guilty to money laundering and wire fraud charges. Brady's scheme involved convincing people to lend him money, claiming he was expecting a large inheritance. Over 33 transactions, most of the funds were not returned. The former officer spent the money on gambling at casinos, online sports betting apps, and 'skill' machines in gas stations. Federal agents began investigating Brady's activities after Eastville Police Chief Linwood Christian confirmed their inquiries. Brady is now set to face sentencing on February 19.
