Ex-RBB Director’s €8,000 Monthly Pension Funded by 460 Berlin Residents
Claudia Nothelle, the former programming director of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), receives a monthly pension of over €8,000 for life. The payments are funded entirely by 460 residents in Berlin and Brandenburg through their public broadcasting fees. Each contributor pays €18.36 per month to cover the cost.
Nothelle secured her lifetime pension after her contract was terminated early. She had served as RBB’s programming director for seven years before leaving the role. The agreement guarantees her a fixed monthly sum, regardless of changes in the broadcasting landscape.
The arrangement means that 460 residents will continue covering Nothelle’s pension through their monthly contributions. The long-term financial commitment highlights how public funds are allocated within RBB’s operations. No further changes to the payment structure have been announced.
