Expanded police forces in two German states to acquire five-bladed H145 helicopters

The Airbus H145 helicopter is set to play a significant role in the law enforcement, public safety operations, and rescue missions of two German states, Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. This announcement follows the order of two five-bladed H145 helicopters each by the Ministries of Interior of these states.

The H145 helicopter family, with more than 1,650 helicopters deployed to public services and law enforcement missions worldwide, is a popular choice due to its versatility and advanced capabilities. In Germany, the helicopter is already in service, with more than 15 units currently operational, and another 15 scheduled for delivery in the coming years.

The H145 offers a multifunctional design, accommodating pilots and up to 10 passengers or EMS configurations with stretchers and medical crew. Its twin-engine reliability, combined with a five-bladed rotor system, enhances payload capacity and flight smoothness. Advanced avionics like the Helionix suite with four-axis autopilot reduce pilot workload and improve safety.

One of the standout features of the H145 is its low noise and emissions, making it one of the quietest and most environmentally friendly helicopters in its class. This quietness is particularly beneficial for urban patrol, surveillance, and covert operations.

The new version of the Airbus H145, unveiled at Heli-Expo 2019, includes a new, innovative five-bladed rotor, which increases the useful load of the helicopter by 150 kg. This upgrade, along with the simplicity of the new bearingless main rotor design, eases maintenance operations.

In addition to its standard features, the H145s for the German police forces will feature a state-of-the-art police configuration, including the latest generation of police mission equipment and Bambi Buckets for firefighting. The H145's CO2 emissions are the lowest amongst its competitors, further emphasizing its eco-friendly nature.

The H145 is powered by 2 Safran Arriel 2E engines and is equipped with full authority digital engine control (FADEC) and the Helionix digital avionics suite. Its high performance 4-axis autopilot increases safety and reduces pilot workload, making it an ideal choice for the demanding tasks of law enforcement and public safety.

With its advanced capabilities, quiet design, and eco-friendly features, the H145 is expected to be the backbone of the German state police forces for the next several decades. The helicopter's proven operational use in over 30 countries for police and public service roles, along with its popularity in Germany, solidifies its position as a preferred model for public safety aviation.
