Expanding Connectivity Options for the Cessna Citation Latitude: Textron Aviation Introduces Starlink High-Speed Internet for Its Aftermarket Solutions
Textron Aviation Introduces High-Speed Internet Connectivity for Cessna Citation Latitude
In a significant development for in-flight connectivity, Textron Aviation, a leading manufacturer of business jets, turboprops, and high-performance pistons, has announced an expansion of aftermarket connectivity solutions for the Cessna Citation Latitude. The new solution provides high-speed internet through SpaceX's Starlink service.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued AeroMech's Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Starlink high-speed internet connectivity, paving the way for this innovative service. This connectivity solution aims to provide more reliable connectivity over land, water, and remote areas where traditional in-flight Wi-Fi may not have service.
Starlink, engineered and operated by SpaceX, the world's leading provider of launch services, delivers high-speed, low-latency internet to users worldwide using a low Earth orbit satellite constellation. The solution for the Cessna Citation Latitude is based on Starlink's constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.
The upgrade requires power input from the aircraft and utilizes a Starlink Aviation Kit, consisting of an Aero Terminal (Antenna), Power Supply Unit (PSU), Wireless Access Points (WAPs), and harnessing. Customers can schedule the upgrade for installation at North American Textron Aviation Service Centers and International Service Centers.
Brian Rohloff, senior vice president of Customer Support, stated that the enhancement reflects Textron Aviation's commitment to innovation. "We are always looking for ways to enhance the customer experience, and this partnership with SpaceX and Starlink is a significant step forward in providing our customers with the best possible connectivity solutions," Rohloff said.
