Fact-checkers expose AI-generated deepfake targeting DRDO chief
A viral video has spread false claims about DRDO Chairman Samir V. Kamat. The footage alleges he stated that missiles are washed with cow urine on Prime Minister Modi’s instructions. Fact-checkers have now confirmed the audio is AI-generated.
The original video, sourced from ANI News, contains no such statement by Kamat. The misleading clip first appeared online with a fabricated voiceover. AI detection tools, including Hiya and Hive, analysed the audio and flagged it as likely synthetic. Both platforms indicated strong signs of artificial generation.
PIB Fact Check investigated the claim and confirmed Kamat never made the statement. Their report also verified that the audio was entirely AI-created. The original ANI News footage shows no mention of cow urine or related directives from the Prime Minister.
The video is classified as a deepfake, combining real visuals with manipulated sound. Authorities have warned the public against sharing unverified content of this nature. The claim has been debunked by multiple sources, including PIB Fact Check and AI analysis tools. The original ANI News recording contains no reference to cow urine or PM Modi’s involvement. The video remains a confirmed example of AI-generated disinformation.
