Fake video falsely accuses India’s defence chief of surrendering territory to China

A viral video claiming India’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Anil Chauhan accused the Indian Air Force and alleged the government surrendered Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh to China has been exposed as fake. The manipulated clip spread rapidly on social media, prompting official investigations into its origins and intent. The original footage from the Indian Navy’s official YouTube channel shows CDS Anil Chauhan’s speech at the Indian Naval Academy’s Passing Out Parade made no mention of China, Ladakh, or Arunachal Pradesh. Instead, the viral version contained digitally altered audio, inserted to create false claims. The debunked video highlights the risks of AI-generated misinformation targeting national security narratives. PIB’s confirmation and technical analysis by voice-detection tools confirm the clip’s falsified nature. Authorities continue to monitor such attempts to spread disinformation about India’s defence policies.
