False Claim Circulates: Ukraine Didn't Liberate Nine Cities Simultaneously
A false claim has been circulating in the Facebook group 'Hot News Ukraine', misleading users about recent developments in the Ukraine conflict. The claim directs users to an anonymous website, 'Life in Detail', for further information. The claim suggests that the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated nine cities simultaneously. However, this is false. Ukraine has indeed made progress, reclaiming two villages—Kucheriv Yar and Sukhetske—in the past ten days (October 16–26, 2025). Since August 2025, Ukrainian forces have also reclaimed the village of Kutscheriw Jar and made gains near Torezk and the Sumy region. Nevertheless, they face challenges around Pokrowsk, where Russian troops have advanced, posing a threat of encirclement. The website 'Life in Detail' reports data from the General Staff, confirming the liberation of nine settlements in the Ocheretyne sector of the Pokrovsk front since August 21, 2025. However, these are villages and towns, not cities, as the false claim suggests. The VoxCheck Team has previously debunked fake news from such sources. The false claim that the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated nine cities all at once has been circulating on Facebook. While Ukraine has made significant gains, including the liberation of nine settlements over more than two months, the claim is an exaggeration. Users are advised to verify information from reliable sources to avoid spreading misinformation.
