Far-Right AfD Dominates Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen Council Election

The latest district council election in Landkreis Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen has reshaped local politics. The far-right AfD emerged as the clear winner, while several smaller parties lost ground or disappeared from the council entirely. Overall, the number of represented parties has dropped from ten to seven.

The AfD saw the most dramatic change, expanding its presence from just two seats to seven. This surge made it the biggest gainer in the election. Meanwhile, the Greens and the Ecological Democratic Party (ÖDP) both suffered losses, reducing their influence on the council.

The Free Democratic Party (FDP) failed to secure any seats this time around. Additionally, the Bavaria Party and the Free Independent Voters did not put forward candidates, removing them from the race entirely. The Left Party, however, managed to make modest gains. Established parties like the CSU, Free Voters, and SPD held onto their positions. Despite shifts elsewhere, these three retained their seats, maintaining some stability in the council's composition.

The election results leave the district council with fewer parties than before. The AfD's rise marks a significant shift in local representation. The next term will see seven parties in total, down from the previous ten.
