Far-right AfD office in Germany vandalized in suspected politically motivated attack

A building used by the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in Cadolzburg was targeted in an overnight attack on February 19-20, 2026. Vandals smashed windows at the former guesthouse Gwäxhaus, which serves as the party's local office. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident.

The attack was first reported by the AfD's Fürth-Neustadt/Aisch district branch, which described it as politically motivated. The party also linked the vandalism to other recent incidents, including an arson attack on a member's car and physical assaults at an information stand.

Police and forensic teams were quickly sent to the scene to collect evidence. Meanwhile, a social media post from the account *Antifa Infos & Mobilisierungen* claimed responsibility. The statement warned of further 'militant actions' in the future. Claus-Georg Pleyer, the AfD's local chapter chair, called on law enforcement to identify those responsible. Despite the threat, no additional attacks on AfD facilities or members in the region have been officially recorded since early 2026.

The incident remains under investigation, with police examining evidence from the scene. The AfD has condemned the attack and urged stronger action against political violence. No further attacks in the area have been reported since the start of the year.
