Far-right figure’s brief role in Berlin publishing house sparks controversy
Baldur Bachmann, a figure with far-right ties, briefly co-owned a Berlin-based publishing group, Berliner Traditionsverlage LLC, before his removal in 2023. The LLC specialises in historical works, including titles on Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. His departure followed revelations about his political background and past legal troubles.
Bachmann and Andreas Kietzmann launched Berliner Traditionsverlage LLC in 2023 with €25,000 in capital. The publishing house, which includes Eulenspiegel Verlagsgruppe and Edition Ost, operates from a nondescript building between an auto repair shop and a marksmen’s club. Kietzmann later stated he had no knowledge of Bachmann’s political views when they entered the partnership.
Bachmann’s exit from Berliner Traditionsverlage LLC marked the end of a short-lived business partnership. The publisher now operates without his involvement, while his history—spanning legal convictions and extremist ties—remains a matter of public record. The LLC continues to focus on historical publications, distancing itself from the controversy.
