Fashion Designer Arthur Folasa Ah Loo Killed in Protest Shooting by Utah Man

A Utah man has been charged with manslaughter after a fatal shooting during a 'No Kings' protest in Salt Lake City. Matthew Alder allegedly fired the shot that killed Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, a well-known fashion designer and former Project Runway contestant. The incident occurred on December 3, 2025, amid nationwide demonstrations against the Trump administration.

The shooting took place during a protest where open-carry laws allowed legal gun owners to carry firearms in public. Alder claimed he fired at Arturo Roberto Gamboa, who was seen assembling an AR-15 rifle in the crowd. According to investigators, Alder stated that Gamboa moved toward the crowd and ignored his commands.

The case now moves through the legal system, with Alder facing manslaughter charges for Ah Loo's death. The shooting has reignited discussions about open-carry laws and public safety during protests. Ah Loo's family and supporters continue to seek accountability for his killing.
