Fatal Delay in Aortic Dissection Case Triggers Hospital Investigation

A 54-year-old woman's death at Rohrbach Hospital has sparked an investigation. The woman, diagnosed with an aortic dissection, couldn't be transferred to a specialized clinic in time. Regional deputy governor Christine Haberlander (ÖVP) ordered the review, stressing the need for a detailed analysis. Friedrich Pammer, former director of the Upper Austrian Court of Audit, will lead the expert commission as an independent and nonpartisan expert.

The commission aims to identify weaknesses and suggest improvements, particularly in emergency treatment. Neither Kepler University Hospital in Linz, Wels-Grieskirchen Clinic, St. Pölten University Hospital, nor Passau Hospital could accept the patient for transfer. Jakob Hochgerner, head of the health department for Upper Austria, will serve on the commission. Pammer's leadership ensures a comprehensive and transparent investigation.

The expert commission will work to clearly identify issues in hospital care, especially in emergency situations. Its findings will help improve patient outcomes and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
