Father and son denied entry at German border, deported to Baku
Georgian Father and Azerbaijani Son Turned Away at German Border
A 38-year-old Georgian man and his 14-year-old Azerbaijani son saw their journey cut short at the border: within hours, both were sent back to their home country after being stopped at the Ludwigsdorf motorway border crossing (A4 Autobahn).
The two had already drawn attention at Polish border control on Saturday afternoon. Due to insufficient entry requirements for Poland, they were refused entry and returned to Germany.
Upon taking custody, German Federal Police officers also determined that neither met the entry nor residency conditions for Germany. Both were taken into custody, and criminal proceedings were initiated against them for illegal entry and illegal stay.
Investigations revealed that the Georgian man—the father of the Azerbaijani boy—had been residing in the Schengen Area since 2023 and had been engaged in unauthorized employment. His Azerbaijani son had entered Germany with his mother despite a prior entry refusal. The mother had since left Germany, leaving the son subject to an existing entry and residence ban.
After completing all necessary legal procedures, both were denied entry to Germany. Since deportation to Poland was not possible, authorities arranged their return to their country of origin by mutual agreement.
On Sunday at 10:10 AM, they were flown back to Baku, Azerbaijan, via Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER).
