FDP Adopts State Election Program - FDP fights for survival in Rhineland-Palatinate’s 2026 state election

Rhineland-Palatinate’s Free Democratic Party (FDP) is finalising its election manifesto today in Frankenthal. The event comes ahead of the state election on 22 March 2026, where the party faces a tough challenge to keep its seats in parliament.

The FDP currently holds six of the 101 seats in Mainz’s state parliament. Since 2016, it has been part of the traffic-light coalition government alongside the SPD and Greens. But recent polls place the party below the five-percent threshold needed to stay in parliament.

The FDP’s manifesto will outline its priorities for Rhineland-Palatinate. With polls showing weak support, the party must now convince voters to secure its place in the next government. The election on 22 March will decide whether the FDP retains its parliamentary presence.
