Felix Eypeltauer Wins Second Term as Neos Upper Austria Spokesman
Felix Eypeltauer has secured a second term as provincial spokesman of Neos Upper Austria, winning 64.6 percent of the vote. The party leader, who has been in Upper Austrian politics since 2019, successfully defended his position against a challenge from Pit Freisais, who received 35.4 percent of the vote.
Eypeltauer's leadership has been praised by General Secretary Douglas Hoyos. The party, which has 400 to 500 members, aims to increase its numbers to 700 by the next state election in 2027. Eypeltauer led Neos Upper Austria into the state parliament in 2021.
Karin Doppelbauer was re-elected as deputy provincial spokeswoman with 60.2 percent of the vote, defeating Helga Frohn who received 39.8 percent. Freisais, a city councilor from Steyr, sought to separate the roles of provincial spokesman and party chairman, both currently held by Eypeltauer.
With Eypeltauer's re-election, Neos Upper Austria looks to build on its progress. The party's influence is set to grow, with a likely NEOS member joining the Austrian federal government in the coalition formed under Chancellor Christian Stocker in 2025.
