Five-Month-Old Reunited with Mother After Family Dispute in Uttar Pradesh
A five-month-old infant in Uttar Pradesh has been reunited with his mother after a family dispute separated them. The intervention came following a complaint lodged by Faima Khatoon with Child Helpline 1098. Officials acted swiftly to resolve the situation and ensure the child’s safety.
On May 3, Child Helpline 1098 received details about the separation in Bijnor district. The team immediately contacted the Anti Human Trafficking Unit and the local Child Welfare Officer for support.
Authorities then counselled both parents, Faima Khatoon and Shahabuddin, to settle the dispute peacefully. They explained to Shahabuddin the harm caused by keeping an infant away from his mother. After discussions, he agreed to return the child to Faima. The case highlights the role of Child Helpline 1098 as a key support system under Mission Vatsalya Yojana. The state government has repeatedly emphasised its commitment to child protection and women’s welfare in Uttar Pradesh.
The infant is now back with his mother, marking a successful resolution to the dispute. The government’s rapid response demonstrates its focus on safeguarding children and families in distress. Such cases serve as examples of the system’s effectiveness in handling sensitive family matters.
