Five Russian Cities Compete for Most Fascinating Architecture Title

Five cities in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region are vying for the title of most architecturally fascinating. The public vote, held anonymously on the Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Construction’s Project Directorate, will decide the winner. Notable historic churches, kremlins, and classic Russian architecture, such as the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin and the Church of the Nativity in Gorodets, are among the significant buildings presented.

The poll includes the cities of Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk, Arzamas, Gorodets, and Vyksa. Each city has submitted culturally important structures that represent their unique architectural heritage. The vote, which is open to all, aims to raise awareness and appreciation for the region's rich architectural history.

The competition is a celebration of classic Russian architecture, with historic churches and kremlins taking centre stage. The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, a 16th-century fortress, is one of the most iconic structures in the region. The Church of the Nativity in Gorodets, known for its intricate carvings and onion domes, is another standout example.

The public vote is ongoing and will conclude on November 21, with the results announced on the same day. This initiative not only encourages civic engagement but also fosters pride and understanding of the Nizhny Novgorod region's architectural legacy.
