Five SPS Officers Cleared for IPS Promotion After Record Dispute Resolved
A Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) recently met in New Delhi to review the promotion of State Police Service (SPS) officers to the Indian Police Service (IPS). The meeting followed an earlier cancellation in September due to disputes over officer records. Five officers are now set for promotion, with an official announcement expected soon from the Government of India.
The DPC originally scheduled for September 12 was called off after objections arose over an officer’s eligibility, confidential records (ACRs), and caste certificate. Among the contested cases was that of Amritlal Meena, a 1997-batch officer. The Police Headquarters and Home Department later re-examined the ACRs of all 15 candidates under consideration, resolving Meena’s case before the latest meeting.
The promotion process faced delays due to record disputes, but the latest meeting cleared the way for five officers to join the IPS. The Government of India is expected to release the official list shortly, finalising their elevation from the Madhya Pradesh Police Service.
