Five Teens Convicted After Brutal Vienna Park Assault Leaves Boy with Life-Changing Injuries
Five teenagers aged 15 to 17 have been convicted for a brutal assault in Vienna. The attack left a 15-year-old boy with severe injuries, including a skull fracture and brain haemorrhages. A judge called the incident an 'outburst of violence without parallel' during the trial.
The assault took place in Steinhage Park, Vienna-Meidling. The victim was lured into a fight by acquaintances of the accused before being beaten. One of the attackers, aged 13, recorded the assault on his phone but could not be prosecuted due to his age.
During the trial, two of the convicted teens laughed repeatedly while watching the video of the attack. The victim now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic headaches, and sleep disturbances. He spent 16 days in hospital recovering from his injuries. Prosecutors believe the attack may have been motivated by the victim's perceived sexual orientation. They are seeking €30,000 in compensation for his pain and suffering.
The court has delivered its verdict, convicting all five defendants. The victim continues to deal with long-term physical and psychological effects. Compensation for his suffering remains under consideration by the court.
