Florida professors face backlash over Charlie Kirk’s death comments
Three professors at Florida Atlantic University were placed on administrative leave after making public comments about the death of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. Kirk was shot and killed on September 10 during an event at Utah Valley University. The university launched an investigation into the professors’ remarks.
The professors under scrutiny were Karen Leader.
Two of the three professors have resumed their duties after the investigation found their comments legally protected. The university has not yet announced a timeline for resolving Polak’s case. The outcome highlights ongoing debates over free speech and academic expression in higher education.
