SYSTRA Relocates to Modern Leeds Office, Boosting Transpennine Rail Corridor Upgrades

SYSTRA, a leading transport planning, engineering, and infrastructure specialist, has moved into a new, modern office space on 114 Wellington Street, Leeds. The new location, which reflects the company's brand and ambition to deliver first-class services, is a significant step in its growth plans for Yorkshire.

Nick Salt, CEO of SYSTRA, expressed delight with the new office, stating, "We are thrilled to be in our new Leeds home. This space will foster creativity and collaboration, enabling us to continue delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions that create places that thrive across Yorkshire."

Sebastien Dupont, managing director of consultancy at SYSTRA, shared Salt's excitement, adding, "I have had a presence in Leeds for more than three decades, and I am excited about the opportunities this new office presents. We look forward to growing SYSTRA's portfolio of work in Yorkshire, working closely with local authorities and national infrastructure organizations."

One of SYSTRA's key projects in the region is the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU East), an electrification project aimed at improving the rail passenger experience between Leeds and York. The company is part of the TRU East Alliance, working alongside Network Rail, Murphy, Siemens, and VolkerRail to deliver upgrades on this 70-mile main line.

A significant milestone was reached when 25% of the line was electrified, enabling the first electric passenger train to run between York (Colton Junction) and Church Fenton, close to Leeds. This electrification is part of efforts to achieve faster, greener, and more reliable rail travel with benefits including carbon emission reductions, increased capacity, more freight moved by rail, and improved accessibility at stations.

In Leeds, SYSTRA's activity includes ongoing electrification work and infrastructure enhancements on the section of track around the city. Over several weekends, significant installation work such as wiring spanning kilometers between Leeds and York has been successfully completed.

In addition to the TRU East project, SYSTRA is working on projects for various local clients including West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), Leeds City Council, Kirklees Council, and national infrastructure organizations such as HS2, Network Rail, Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB), and National Highways.

The new office, a bright, modern space that complements SYSTRA's staff's skills across a range of services, is designed to foster creativity and collaboration. Sebastien Dupont, managing director of consultancy at SYSTRA, is committed to continuing to support clients on complex sustainable infrastructure projects in the UK, Ireland, and around the world from this new base.
