Former FDP Member Josefa von Hohenzollern Secures 11% in Leonberg Mayoral Race
Josefa von Hohenzollern, a former FDP member, ran independently in the Leonberg mayoral election, securing 11.04% of the votes. Her candidacy, despite unsolicited support from the AfD, has sparked debate. Tobias Degode, backed by the CDU and Free Voters, won with 50.9% and will succeed Martin Georg Cohn as mayor in December.
Von Hohenzollern, who finished third, emphasized her independence throughout the campaign. She was not pleased with the AfD's endorsement, running as an independent to distance herself from them. Despite this, the AfD praised her as 'the most convincing overall package' before the election.
Marion Beck, who came second with 32.35% of the vote, was supported by the Greens and the SALZ faction. However, details about her background remain scarce. Von Hohenzollern has offered Degode a 'trusting cooperation' as he prepares to take office.
Tobias Degode will become Leonberg's new mayor, having won the election with a clear majority. Josefa von Hohenzollern, despite the controversy surrounding the AfD's support, has extended an olive branch to him. The political landscape in Leonberg continues to evolve as the new administration takes shape.
