Foundation Gameskraft initiates the second phase of "Behind Ancient Horizons," their latest project
The sports landscape in India is about to witness a significant shift, as the Gameskraft Foundation and the GoSports Foundation have joined forces to launch the second phase of their campaign, "Mere Kadmon Ke Peeche." This initiative aims to raise awareness and support for para-athletes in India, highlighting their journeys, achievements, and the unsung heroes who play a critical role in their success.
Deepthi Bopaiah, CEO of the GoSports Foundation, expressed her delight at the campaign, stating that it sheds light on the vital support systems that empower para-athletes, including coaches, physiotherapists, nutritionists, sports scientists, family, friends, and athlete managers. The GoSports Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing Indian sporting excellence, supports over 200 athletes who aspire to represent India on the global stage.
Rishi Wadhera, Head of Corporate Communications and CSR at Gameskraft, added that the campaign celebrates the achievements of para-athletes and their support team. The Gameskraft Foundation, the social arm of a leading Indian company operating skill-based online games, has renewed its association with the GoSports Foundation for the 'Para Champions Programme.'
The campaign's purpose is threefold: to highlight the journeys and achievements of para-athletes, to challenge societal perceptions and stereotypes around disability and sports, and to inspire greater recognition, support, and inclusion of para-athletes in the mainstream sports ecosystem.
The central message of the campaign revolves around the idea that the impact of para-athletes goes beyond just their physical steps or achievements. It is about what their journey represents: courage, determination, and breaking barriers. The phrase "Mere Kadmon Ke Peeche" (translated roughly as "Behind My Steps") symbolizes the stories, hardships, and support systems that empower these athletes, inviting the public to look beyond the surface and recognize the broader narrative.
This initiative is expected to raise visibility and awareness for para-athletes, helping them receive the recognition and encouragement they deserve. By spotlighting their stories, it will create a more enabling environment for sponsorships, funding, and policy support. The campaign will also motivate younger para-athletes and help build a community that values diversity and inclusion in sports.
The campaign features 12 para-athletes across Para Athletics, Para Swimming, Para Taekwondo, Para Archery, and Para Badminton. It is in collaboration with the GoSports Foundation, spotlighting para-athletes under their 'Para Champions Programme.' The campaign film has been released on Gameskraft's Instagram and LinkedIn accounts.
The GoSports Foundation, founded in 2008, supports multiple academies, coaches, and sports organizations. Its programmes have supported over 24 Olympians, 35 Paralympians, and 16 Paralympic medallists. Athletes supported under the GoSports Foundation's Para Champions Programme won five medals at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
In essence, the "Mere Kadmon Ke Peeche" campaign is a powerful initiative to celebrate para-athletes' determination and to push for greater equity and support within Indian sports. It aligns with the GoSports Foundation’s broader mission of supporting athletes through training, mentoring, and financial assistance, particularly focusing on marginalized and differently-abled athletes.
