Four-ball Acrobatics or Ball Balancing Act

In the heart of Heidekreis, the city of Schneverdingen continues to adapt to changes, as the Jordan sports hall remains closed since the Easter holidays. Despite this setback, schools and sports clubs are finding creative solutions to ensure the continuity of swimming lessons and sports activities.

The Jordan sports hall's closure necessitates a complete rearrangement of the booking for the winter season. Rolf Weinreich, a long-standing volunteer coordinating the booking of halls for club sports, is at the helm of this task. Meanwhile, school principal Agnes Fach has been working closely with the city to secure additional funding for bus transfers, making it possible for schools to continue their sports lessons.

Classes that would normally have swimming lessons can switch to the swimming pool after the fall break, without having to rework the timetable. This smooth transition is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the school administration and local authorities.

As for sports lessons organised as double periods, three classes are making use of sports halls in Lünzen and at Pietzmoor, while two more classes are using the community center in Wesseloh. These temporary arrangements have been put in place to accommodate the classes not able to do sports simultaneously.

The Hansahlen primary school, on the other hand, has been making the most of outdoor spaces, a nearby park, and the school's assembly hall for sports activities.
