Four Teams Selected to Shape Elisabeth-Aue District in Pankow
The competition for the Elisabeth-Aue district in Pankow has concluded, with four teams selected to further develop their designs. The project, which aims to build up to 5,000 apartments and various facilities, has sparked controversy due to its scale and transportation concerns. Public exhibitions starting mid-October will showcase the designs and gather citizen feedback.
The winning design from the workshop phase will serve as the foundation for the quarter's future planning. The selected teams are 03 Arch with Kuehn Malvezzi Projects, Hosoya Schaefer Architects with Agence Ter, Ortner & Ortner Baukunst with capattistaubach, and CITYFÖRSTER with arbos landscape. The Berlin Senate plans to extend tram lines M1 and 50 through the district to connect to the Pankow center. The approximately 3.5-kilometer-long tram route is scheduled for implementation in 2030.
The project, coordinated by local government bodies, includes public participation. An early participation phase is planned from May to June 2025, allowing for further contributions and adjustments based on public and administrative feedback.
