Four-vehicle crash on Berlin's A100 leaves two injured after suspected drug use
A serious traffic accident took place late last night on Berlin's A100 motorway near Schmargendorf. The crash involved four vehicles and left two people injured. Police suspect drug use and speeding played a role in the collision.
The incident began at around 10:45 p.m. when a 20-year-old driver of a Ford was heading toward the Funkturm interchange. Witnesses reported the vehicle was travelling at high speed. Without signalling, the Ford suddenly swerved into the middle lane, colliding with an Audi.
The impact caused the Ford to spin and strike a Hyundai in the same lane. The car then crashed into the rear of a truck before coming to a stop. The Audi driver suffered head and neck pain and received outpatient treatment at a nearby hospital.
The Ford driver and his 19-year-old passenger were also taken to hospital for outpatient care. Blood samples were taken from the 20-year-old, as police suspect he was under the influence of drugs. The truck driver and the Hyundai driver escaped without injuries.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the crash. The Ford driver faces potential charges related to dangerous driving and drug impairment. Police have not yet released further details on the ongoing investigation.
