Frank Meyer Re-elected Mayor of Krefeld in Close Race
Frank Meyer has been re-elected as mayor of Krefeld, securing his third consecutive victory in the 2024 presidential election. In a closely contested election, Meyer received 54.98% of the votes, while challenger Timo Kühn got 45.02%. Despite not winning, Kühn demonstrated sportsmanship by congratulating Meyer personally.
The election saw a higher turnout than the previous one, with 37.34% of voters casting their ballots. Meyer, expressing happiness about his victory, plans to focus on improving areas that have not worked well so far. Kühn, although not winning, felt like a co-winner, having come closer to the incumbent than any other challenger in the 2024 presidential election in recent times.
The constitutive meeting of the CDU faction will take place on Monday, 3rd November 2025, at 5 PM in the Bürgerhaus Krefeld. Kühn, open to considering his political future, has stated that he does not want to disrupt this meeting.
