Frankfurt attack leaves child injured and cars smashed in violent rampage
A 23-year-old man has been detained after a violent rampage in Frankfurt. The incident began on Nürnberg Street, where he allegedly assaulted a stranger before targeting vehicles and a young child. Police later arrested him near a railway underpass in Bischofsheim.
The attack started when the man reportedly struck a 43-year-old passerby without warning. He then fled, smashing the window of a moving car with a paving stone. The 37-year-old driver suffered minor injuries from broken glass.
Near 'An der Schleuse' and along the Main Dam, the assailant shattered the windows of two more parked cars. He later pulled a three-year-old boy from his bicycle and kicked him while he lay on the ground. Police confirmed no other vehicles were damaged in the area. Officers eventually caught the suspect near the railway bridge underpass. Following his arrest, he was transferred to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation.
The total cost of the damage is estimated at several thousand euros. Authorities have charged the man with multiple offences, including assault, criminal damage, and endangering traffic. The investigation remains ongoing.
