Freiburg’s Marienstraße glows with new Christmas lights this holiday season
Freiburg’s Marienstraße will shine with new Christmas lights for the first time this year. The delicate string lights and red stars were picked to match the street’s historic buildings. A special ceremony on November 27 will mark their official switch-on.
The idea for the festive display came from the local group Schneckenvorstadt. Their plan received backing from the federal program Future-Proof City Centers and Districts as well as residents. The project aims to make the area more inviting and spread visitor numbers more evenly.
The lighting scheme adds a fresh touch to Marienstraße’s festive season. With support from both the government and locals, the project seeks to boost the area’s appeal. The official ceremony will kick off the display for visitors to enjoy.
