Freiburg's Unemployment Rises for First Time Since 1982 as Loerrach Sees Decline

Employment agencies in Freiburg and Loerrach have reported significant changes in job market trends. While Loerrach saw a decrease in unemployment, Freiburg experienced its first increase in joblessness since 1982.

In Loerrach, the unemployment rate dropped to 5.2 percent in September, with 11,838 job seekers. This decline of 194 was partly due to young adults starting training positions. The agency district also witnessed a decrease in job offers, down by almost 30 percent compared to last year. Both agencies stressed their role as intermediaries and supporters for companies and job seekers.

Freiburg, however, saw an unexpected rise in unemployment. The number of jobless individuals increased by 193, reaching 17,359 and a rate of 4.5 percent. This is the first increase since 1982. Economic uncertainties led to a decrease in hiring, with around 644 fewer open positions compared to last year. The unemployment rate for young people also rose to 3.6 percent.

While Loerrach's job market showed signs of improvement, Freiburg's experienced a significant setback. Both agencies continue to play a crucial role in supporting job seekers and companies amidst these changes.
